Cities are like humans. You have them in different shapes: big or small. So let’s pop the question what is the smallest city in the world?
According to the Guiness Book or Records the smallest city in the world is Hum (Croatia).
Hum is located in Croatia and has a stunning population of less than 30 habitants. There are 12 houses. That is more than a handful you know. In less than a half hour you can visit the city. Why it is worth a visit? Well, they have an art gallery…
Every city has a mayor and so does Hum. Every year they vote a new one. Only their election is a bit… special.
Each inhabitant gets a piece of wood with the name of the candidates carved on it. You mark the candidate you prefer and the votes are summed up. It is the opposite of a Smart City but who cares?
There are some other cities who claim to be the smallest like Durbuy (Belgium), Sloten (Holland), Larressingle (France) or Fishtail (USA) but they are not official certified.
