City Fact #5 (Lagos)

When you think about big cities you think about New York or Tokyo for example. You don’t think about African capital cities like Lagos, a city in Nigeria. It’s not the capital of Nigeria which is Abuja, but according to Wikipedia Lagos is

… the largest city in Africa. It is one of the fastest growing cities in the world and also one of the most populous urban agglomerations in the world. Lagos is a major financial centre in Africa; the megacity has the highest GDP, and also houses one of the largest and busiest ports on the continent.



Don’t confuse Lagos in Portugal with Lagos in Nigeria. In fact, there are 2 Lagos’ in Portugal: one with about 28.000 inhabitants and one with about 19.000 inhabitants. Lagos in Nigeria counts 12 milion people and was named after the ones in Portugal.
